Happy Earth Day! Have an old scrunchie laying around and looking for something to do with it? Don't throw it away, but turn it into a pin cushion! Let's be sustainable and make something for good!

Scrunchie Elastic (If new elastic is needed) Scrap Fabric Stuffing Sewing Machine Pins Scissors

Step 1: Check to see if the scrunchie fits tight on your wrist. If not, cut your scrunchie so you have a long tube of fabric and a piece of elastic.

Step 2: Remove the elastic, and wrap it around your wrist to trim it to the size of your wrist.

Step 3: Guide the elastic through the fabric using a safety pin. It may be easier to pin one end of the elastic to one end of the fabric so it stays in place.

Step 4: Pin the elastic ends to each other, and take a seam across to join the elastic together.

Step 5: Put the scrunchie aside, and take out the scrap fabric and cut about a 6 inch circle. Take two basting seams around the circle so you can gather it.

Step 6: Gather the circle by pulling one string and curl it into a ball. Once it's pulled, stuff the pin cushion with the stuffing and sew it off with a hand seam.

Step 7: Sew the pin cushion top onto the scrunchie. This step also serves to close off the scrunchie. Enjoy your pin cushion!
